'SHarpening' in PS is easy! tho it really is not sharpening per se, but actually is an increase in edge contrast, which makes it appear sharper.

dont worry about the 'sharpen' or 'sharpen more' options - they are presets and dont give a lot of control, so go to USM (or smart sharpen if you have CS/2)

On USM you have three sliders - amount, radius and threshold - Amount dictates how much the contrast is increased, the radius is how wide the effect is, and the threshold is how different the pixels have to be before contrast is affected. Usually for full sized images (8mp) I use about 125%/ 0.6 radius and a threshold of between 2 & 5 - play round with them - and use the preview to judge whether the effect is ok.

It is a good idea to leave sharpening to the very last step ,(in fact some even leave sharpening out all together and only sharpen when about to print or when preparing for the web). Also if you resize an image, say for the web, it is a good idea to sharpen again.

USM is also useful as a contrast tool - at wide radius, a low amount can do wonders at tidying up a hazy shot - try about 15%/90/0 on a landscape and watch the shot 'pop'. I also use it a lot on my portraiture, but thats mainly because I like a contrasty shot.

I cant be sure that this shot will sharpen up very well as its very soft , I'm sure you will find USM a very handy tool - dont be afraid to try it (and tehother filters) too!

Yo...I work as a professional graphic designer..use photoshop daily. I know your post is old but I thought I could help. Unfortunately once a photo is blurred, there's little you can do to fix it completely. I took your photo and photoshopped it...I first used UNSHARP MASK...with the settings Amount @ 140% Radius @ 3 and Threshold also at 3. This produces really nice results for the hair, eyes , nose and eyebrow area. Not completely satisfied...I took the original image and put it on top of the edited "sharpened" layer (Now 2 layers, original on top of sharpened). Put a mask on the original layer...use black and a soft brush about the size of your eyes with the flow set to about 10%. and just tap the mouse in the areas of your eyes tip of your nose and hair. What this does is fades out the original in those areas and allows the sharpened version on the layer below to come through....give it a shot for fun. good luck. I'd send you the version I did if you'd like it.
